About this deal

I have accumulate several REI gift cards and thinking I’ll splurge on a nice insulated pad, regular wide. The cost between Xlite and Xtherm is so minimal, I would hate to get the Xlite and wish I had the Xtherm, where I don’t like I’d mind the extra 4 oz much. The NeoAir XLiteNXTis available in sizes:Regular Short, Regular, Regular Wide, Large, MAX Regular Wide and MAX Large Ultralight: 439 g (regular) means warmth without the weight typically needed to stay warm in frigid conditions

The Xlite has always been seen as an incredibly efficient sleeping pad at 12 ounces (R) with a 3.2 R-Value. But the Thermarest Neoair Xtherm has taken the evolution of sleeping pads to the next step. weighing just 15 ounces and boasting an impressive 6.9 R-Value. Thermarest Sleeping Pad Comfort:Any customer information held on our computers complies with the rules and laws contained within the Data Protection Act 2018.

Pros: The Xtherm has the highest R-value to weight ratio in the world. This means that you cannot find a sleeping pad that is as warm as and weighs as little as the Xtherm. You can now directly compare the R-value of mats rated using the ASTM F3340-18 with confidence that is a fair and accurate comparison between mats. In simple terms, the higher the R-value, the warmer the mat. The NeoAir XTherm NXT is available in sizes:Regular, Regular Wide, Large, MAX Regular Wide and MAX Large THERMAREST & MSR: Sale! 30% Off all MSR Tents and Thermarest Sleeping Bags including the award-winning Parsec 0! The fabric: While the Xlite is made out of 30D rip HT Nylon, the Xtherm is made out of 30D rip HT Nylon on the top and 70D nylon. The 70D nylon makes the difference in both weight and R-Value capacity, making the Xtherm the best 4-season sleeping pad on the market. Thermarest Xtherm Weight Efficiency:Important things to take into consideration: Any time you’re sleeping on an inflatable air mattress, it’s really important to adjust the air volume to adapt to the expected air temperature. Meaning that when it’s cold outside, the air in your mattress will compress. And when it’s warm, it’ll inflate. Boasting the most warmth per gram for an ultra lightweight mattress, the Thermarest NeoAir XTherm is trusted by mountaineers worldwide. This mat has a R-Value of 5.7 which in real terms relates to true 4 season performance, so it is perfectly suitable for use on snow or frozen ground. R-Values are an international standard of insulation and (in simple terms) indicate the materials ability to reduce heat flow through conduction, radiation or convection. Therefore the higher the R-Value, the lower the heat transfer and the greater the insulation properties of the material.

I had the opportunity to test the NeoAir Xtherm near the Great Sand Dune National Park in Colorado. I was a little bit worried that I’d turn into an ice cube overnight while camping near the Sand Dunes. It wouldn’t be the first time. But it actually took no time at all for the Xtherm to insulate my underside despite some pretty chilly temps. To enhance the comfort and versatility of thesemattresses even further, similar to the current XThermMAX, for 2023, both the XLite and XTherm NXT willbe available in the existing mummy shape andamorespacious rectangularshape, perfect forthoseseekinga little extra comfort and spacewhile they sleep.Sleep comfort is SO important while you’re putting yourself through an extended hike. If you’re not sleeping well, you probably won’t hike well. And your sleeping pad is one of the biggest parts of your sleeping experience, so it’s important to get it right and choose wisely. Sleeping Pad Reliability and Durability: While the R-value of the XTherm NXT increased from 6.9 to 7.3, again, that’s not a good enough reason in my opinion to upgrade to the XTherm NXT if you already own an older XTherm. Anything over an R-value of 6 is already going to be overkill in terms of insulation performance in winter in the lower 48. To be honest, I suspect the R-value increase in the XTherm NXT is tied to the increase in pad height, rather than being a deliberate improvement. The increase in air volume probably makes the pad warmer. Quieter Thermarest NeoAir XLite and XTherm Review - “Increased the comfort and thermal qualities making this the perfect option for lightweight wild-camping” Durable: 70D Nylon fabric bottom resists punctures and delivers a pad that can be confidently and extensively used in the rugged hills and mountains.
